Speaker Wetang’ula says govt will construct a monument at Chetambe Fort

The government will construct a monument at Chetambe Fort in Bungoma to honour locals killed while resisting British colonial rule. Speaking during the Tachoni Cultural Festival, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula stated that the site will sit on 20 acres in Webuye East. Designed as a historical tourism hub, the monument aims to preserve the community's heritage and honour freedom fighters. Local leaders praised the initiative, urging residents to maintain unity and peace as the region prepares for the upcoming New Year.
