St. Joseph Starlets, LYSA crowned Chapa Dimba Central champions

St. Joseph Starlets of Murang’a and Laikipia Youth Soccer Academy, LYSA, have been crowned champions of the fifth edition of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Central Region after winning their respective finals on Sunday evening. St. Joseph Starlets thrashed Barcelona Rising Starlets 5-1 to claim the girls’ title, ending a five-season wait for the regional crown. Patience Waithera opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Iffy Moraa doubled St. Joseph’s lead from the penalty spot to give the Murang’a side a 2-0 advantage at half-time. St. Joseph Starlets picked up where they left off after the restart, with Waithera completing her hat-trick as the Starlets secured a remarkable 5-1 victory. In the boys’ final, defending champions LYSA edged MASFO Academy 1-0, with Patrick Ngaira scoring the lone goal. St. Joseph Starlets and LYSA now join Vihiga Cranes and Lugari Progressive from the Western Region, who have already booked their places in the national finals.
