Tanzania’s new vice president assumes office

Tanzania’s new Vice President, Deogratius John Ndejembi, has assumed office after being sworn in earlier on Saturday. Ndejembi took the oath of office in a ceremony witnessed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in the capital, Dodoma. His swearing-in comes amid a renewed push by a section of political actors for a new Constitution by 2030. Former Tanzanian Prime Minister Joseph Warioba has warned of chaotic times ahead if the country does not, at the very least, enact laws governing elections.
