Three suspects detained for 14 days over Kitale businessman’s murder

Three suspects linked to the murder of Kitale businessman Joseph Njuguna will be detained for 14 days as police conclude investigations into the case. The suspects — Mary Muthoni, the deceased’s wife, Michael Maina, his brother, and Mboshe Mwangi, a security guard — appeared before Kitale High Court Magistrate Wilkister Gati. Police sought orders to detain the trio for 14 days to allow them to complete investigations and conduct mental assessments. An autopsy report indicates that Njuguna died from deep cuts to the head. He is suspected to have been killed after attending his own dowry ceremony. Muthoni, who is being treated as a key suspect, survived the attack with injuries and was hospitalised before her arrest and arraignment.
