United Opposition parties pledge unity to face Ruto in 2027

Five constituent parties of the United Opposition have pledged to shelve personal and party ambitions in a bid to field a single candidate to face President William Ruto in next year’s General Election. The opposition leadership, which attended the 23rd anniversary of the late former Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, heard testimonials on the unity witnessed during the 2002 polls. The leaders pledged to remain united ahead of next year’s elections. As Ayub Abdikadir reports, the opposition leaders are expected to retreat for two days to solidify their strategy.
