Hospital benches across the country were empty on Monday as patients avoided healthcare facilities following the boycott of the SHA credit arrangement by rural and urban private hospitals. A spot check by Citizen TV revealed deserted hallways and patients in search of medical care being turned away. The Kenya Association of Private Hospitals (KAPH), representing over 300 private facilities, has also joined the boycott, affecting coverage under Medical Administrator Kenya Limited (MAKL), which covers teachers and the national police service. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is in talks with the associations to resolve the stalemate.
