The Government is urging employers in the private sector to embrace and offer employment opportunities to persons with skills gained outside formal education who will be assessed and certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning initiative. According to the state department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training the RPL program aims to certify one million skilled individuals annually. Among those earmarked for certification are 400 refugees at Kakuma refugee’ camp.
