A section of UDA women supporters in Kilifi County are threatening to take to the streets protesting the alleged assault of nominated MCA Elina Mapenzi. The women leaders led by Janet Kihika say Mapenzi was assaulted by the assembly’s majority leader Ibrahim Abdi and Shela Ward MCA Twahur Abdulkarim following a scuffle which reportedly stemmed from disagreements over the county’s budget proposal. The supporters who have vowed to hold mass demonstrations on Thursday outside the county assembly precincts termed the action as demeaning to the county’s leadership, calling for respect of women leaders.
