Tanzania's main opposition leader Tundu Lissu on Monday appeared before court for the first time since his arrest on charges that include treason. The investigations on the treason charges are still ongoing with the court now directing the prosecution to hasten investigations with the case due to be heard on the 2nd of June. This comes amidst continued outcry after Kenyan lawyers and human rights activists interested in the case were denied entry into Tanzania. Former Chief Justice David Maraga was however allowed entry. Speaking earlier today , Tanzania President Samia Suluhu has vowed not to allow activists from other countries to disrupt peace in Tanzania.
