A section of residents of Mavoko want the Machakos County Government to take stern action against companies around Athi River that contribute to the pollution of river Athi without any recourse for conservation. The residents who held demonstrations in protests say, polluters are not held accountable for their action despite the potential health risks their actions are causing residents, who heavily depend on the Athi River water whether within the county or downstream.
