Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating poverty and hunger through the expansion of key social protection programmes. Speaking during a side event at the Global Alliance Leaders Summit on Financing for the Fight Against Hunger and Poverty, held alongside the World Social Development Summit in Doha, Qatar, Principal Secretary for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, Joseph Motari, announced the scaling up of the Economic Inclusion Programme (EIP) from five pilot counties to twenty counties nationwide. Motari said the expansion marks a major milestone in the government’s effort to empower vulnerable households and enhance community resilience.
