The Ministry of Health has proposed punitive measures against health officers who fail to report cases of newborn and maternal deaths. Appearing before the national assembly to respond to questions from members of parliament, health cabinet secretary Aden Duale said there could have been more fatalities than the reported 164 newborns and 14 maternal deaths reported in Kiambu County in the five months when the county health workers were on strike.
