Gov’t assures cancer patients of SHA care from diagnosis to treatment and palliative care

    The Ministry of Health has assured cancer patients of comprehensive care under the Social Health Insurance Fund from diagnosis all the way to treatment and palliative care. Reporting to the National Assembly on the implementation of the Social Health Insurance Fund and its contribution to the Universal Health Coverage goal, Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale, said cancer patients are among the major beneficiaries of SHIF, with 31,101 patients reported to have received care under the Social Health Authority Oncology package since the establishment of the fund in 2023.
