Speaking in Mwea, Business Community Chair Anthony Mucheke said property worth over Ksh 200 million was looted and destroyed during Saba Saba protests in Mwea. He said as business owners, they have set up their own security team to protect their properties, adding that they will work closely with security agencies to protect businesses and urged residents to report any suspicious activity. Kirinyaga CEC for Trade and Industry Calbert Munene Njeru condemned the destruction, calling it "economic sabotage." He said the county is mapping all affected businesses and will enhance future protection. Tebere MCA Hon. Peter Karinga said the meeting was non-political and focused on recovery. He urged both county and national governments to offer support and waivers to affected traders. His sediments were echoed by the former Mwea MP, Alfred Nderutu adding that they will not set and watch their properties and business brought down by goons.
