Death toll in Elgeyo Marakwet landslide rises to 39 as government plans mass burials

The death toll from the tragic landslide in Elgeyo Marakwet County has risen to 39, according to an update from the Office of the Government Spokesperson. Nine people are still missing, while six remain hospitalised as recovery operations continue in the Kerio Valley, Embobut, and Upper Sambirir areas. Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accounting for all missing persons and supporting affected families.
