The Meteorological department warns of heavy rains

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several parts of the country, with rains beginning on Friday and expected to intensify through the weekend. The Meteorological Department has warned that the rains pose a moderate to high risk of flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, near rivers, and in urban centres with poor drainage. Counties expected to be affected include Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, Narok, Kajiado, Makueni, Machakos, Nairobi, Kericho, Bomet, the southern parts of Kitui, as well as Taita-Taveta and Kwale. Residents in the affected areas are being urged to remain vigilant, avoid crossing flooded roads and rivers, and follow guidance from authorities and emergency response teams.
