FARMERS SHUTTERED HOPES A section of farmers from Thingithu ward in the outskirts of Nanyuki Town of Laikipia county ushered in the new year counting losses after elephants invaded their farms and destroyed crops. The farmers say that the stray elephants often target their farms at night, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Attempts by the farmers to scare them away have been futile as the jumbos always return. They now want the government to step in and find a lasting solution to avert further losses.
