The government has been urged to employ more women with disabilities in the health sector to ensure proper handling of maternal and reproductive health challenges facing women and girls with special needs. According to This Ability Trust, a non-governmental organisation which is implementing the Mama Siri project, the shortage of female medical practitioners trained to serve persons with disabilities has not been adequately addressed by the government.
