LSK ON HIGH COURT RULING
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has strongly opposed recent court orders that bar public institutions from engaging private legal practitioners, terming the move unconstitutional, discriminatory, and a threat to access to justice. Addressing the media, LSK officials led by President Faith Odhiambo raised concerns over what they described as growing judicial overreach and impunity. The conservatory orders, issued on Monday by Justice Samuel Mukira at the Nakuru High Court, temporarily halted public entities from hiring external legal counsel, a move LSK says unfairly targets the legal profession, while other professionals, such as doctors, engineers, and architects, continue to be engaged by government agencies.
