Donkey beef: Illegal trade persists a year after Citizen TV exposé

For nearly a decade, the fight against the illegal slaughtering of donkeys has intensified across the country. Animal welfare organizations are raising alarm over well-connected cartels facilitating the illegal trade, accusing them of blatantly disregarding laws banning donkey slaughter in the country. As Citizen TV’s Maryanne Nyambura now reports on part three of our season two special ‘Donkey Beef’, the organizations are pushing to raise awareness of the illegal trade while calling for concerted efforts to eradicate the illicit slaughter of donkeys.
