Kakamega County, national gov’t and the community agree on roadmap for Ikolomani gold mining

Political leaders have been urged to support mining in Kakamega County and the wider western region to ensure local communities benefit from the sector. Speaking in Kakamega at Golf Hotel, Governor Fernandes Barasa called for the depoliticization of mining, warning that political interference could undermine economic transformation. He reaffirmed the county government’s support for responsible mining and confirmed full backing for Santa Gold Mining Company’s operations.
