Education experts have challenged the government to relook into strategy of actualizing the STEM pathway under the Competency Based Curriculum, this is after reports indicated a stagnation in the acquisition of foundational numeracy skills. According to a report on a Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment done by the Usawa Agenda, nearly 50% of Grade 6 learners cannot solve a Grade 3-appropriate numeracy problem. The report also revealed significant challenges schools face in adopting ICT in learning, with only 1 in 5 primary schools having operational computer labs.
