A young girl remains at home in Kajiado County after failing to raise the school fees needed to join senior secondary school. In Nandi County, another learner has been helped by police officers to enroll in grade ten. In Nairobi, a grade ten student is also stranded after State House Boys’ High School turned him away twice over a lack of fees. His attempt to join Dandora Senior Secondary School also failed, adding to the growing number of thousands of learners locked out of grade ten, contrary to President William Ruto’s directive. Education stakeholders now dispute government claims that most learners have joined grade ten, saying more than half remain at home.
