Busia governor grilled over Sh1.4bn tenders, EACC alleges payments to relatives' firms

Busia County is on the anti-graft watchdog’s radar, as investigations intensify into the irregular awarding of tenders amounting to 1.4 billion shillings from 2022 to 2025. Governor Paul Otuoma today recorded a statement at the EACC regional office in Bungoma, where he is regarded as a person of interest. Key details of some of the issues under investigation involve the issuance of tenders to 26 proxy companies associated with family members of senior officials of the Busia County Government.
