Sh30 billion modern steel mill owned by the Devki Group of Companies in Samburu, Kwale County is set to be officially opened by President William Ruto on Friday 18.
The plant which will use modern technology in its production will use iron ore to produce the materials and at the same time use its own electricity to run the plant thus cutting cost of production by more than a half.
The factory with a capacity to produce half a million tonnes of steel annually, enough to supply most parts of Africa, is also connected to the meter gauge railway making the cost of transport to other parts of the country and in the region relatively low.
Devki Group chairman Narendra Ravel said the mill employ thousands of people.
