Gov’t fast-tracks 2026/27 budget, e-procurement & capitation

The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury, John Mbadi, has given an ultimatum to accounting officers in ministries and state departments to onboard e-procurement systems. Mbadi, who was speaking during the launch of the budget preparation for the financial year 2026/27, noted that over 200 billion shillings could be unlocked through efficient procurements in government. The Treasury CS warns that the government must find alternative ways to sustain itself, owing to the shrinking fiscal space.
