Chenda Chenda celebrations stir political dispute among the Mijikenda

The annual Chenda Chenda cultural celebrations for the Mijikenda communities is happening in Kwale amid controversy over where the event ought to have been held. The festival which is rotationally held every September 9th in the coast region has this year ignited some disquiet, with a section of the political class demanding that the event be held in Kilifi County due to the large population of the Mijikenda leaving in the region.
