Matatu operators in Narok have joined their colleagues from different counties in threatening to hike fares for commuters due to the rise in fuel prices. Narokline Limited Director Andrew Mwangi said that with schools reopening after the mid-term break, parents could bear the brunt of hiked fares. Mwangi appealed to the government to review the fuel prices and reduce the price of diesel by at least five shillings. He added that in raising fuel prices, the government went against the court ruling that barred implementation of the Finance Act 2023 that among other measures doubled Value Added Tax on fuel.
