The Mijikenda Chenda Chenda festivals held at Pwani University grounds in Kilifi County got a boost after upcountry communities residing in the area graced the occasion, showcasing their traditions. Started four years ago as a totally Mijikenda affair, Chenda Chenda has however seen the inclusion of other tribes such as the Waata, Kikuyu, Luo, Luhya, and Kamba.
