Ruto @3: Sugar sector reforms give farmers hope for better pay

Sugar cane farmers are set to benefit from a change in the payment system that will see their payouts calculated based on the Sucrose content rather than the current weight basis. The director of the Agriculture and Food Authority says this new payment system will increase farmers' profits as more reforms are rolled out in the sugar industry. At the same time, the government says it is working to clear all salary arrears for workers in the factories.
