Google has unveiled a fresh round of investments aimed at accelerating Africa’s digital transformation, including the funding of four new subsea cable connectivity hubs. A further 9 million dollars or 1.162 billion shillings is set to be invested in a fund for African universities, research institutions, and free AI tools for students across the continent. The new commitments build on Google’s nearly two decades of work in Africa and expand its $1 billion investment pledge to the region.
