In line with the World Health Organization's alarming statistics that 1 in 5 people face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, Kenya observes World Cancer Day with heightened concern over cervical cancer, the second most prevalent form of the disease in the country. The Ministry of Health is to this end channeling its focus towards the prevention of cervical cancer by targeting schools, through administering the HPV vaccine to girls between the ages of 9 and 14.
