Ksh 11m Kericho slaughterhouse constructed since 2014 not in use

Residents of Chepseon in Kericho County are calling upon the county government to re-establish Chesinende Slaughterhouse that has been abandoned and closed since 2014. The residents complained that authorities had allowed the slaughterhouse to be built on land that also hosts a cattle dip, but asserted that the slaughterhouse should be opened as it had already consumed public funds to the tune of 11 million shillings spent by the county government in construction. They further complained of lack of participation in the decision to construct the facility, raising questions on accountability and transparency.
