Poisonous cassava kills a 7- year old child in Nyamira North

A seven year old boy died while three of his siblings received treatment at the Nyamira county referral hospital after they consumed suspected poisonous cassava on Friday. According to the mother of the children, she had gotten cassava from a neighbor, which she prepared for lunch on Saturday, and later they all fell sick after consuming the cassava. The incident has come as a shocker for residents of Nyamira North who called for the immediate testing of soil samples to determine the safety of their crops.
