‘We don’t need to have Finance Bill’- Treasury CS nominee Mbadi

On day 3 of the vetting of cabinet secretary nominees, John Mbadi walked into the national assembly’s county hall to answer a barrage of questions from the committee on appointments. The national treasury nominee said if confirmed, his first task would be reforming the Kenya revenue authority, arguing that the taxman’s system is broken and requires immediate reforms, including a re-evaluation of its leadership. Mbadi who has been a critic of the government and its tax policies could now find himself at the center of policies he criticized as a legislator.
