Sunday service at the Kiamwathi PCEA Church in Nyeri failed to kick off as youth from the seven churches that form the PCEA Nyeri Joy Parish headquartered at Kiamwathi, sought to protest a decision by the elders of the church to kick out the resident reverend. The youth took control of the church locking out congregants who had arrived early for the Sunday service, for close to six hours, as they held a meeting inside the church compound, to address their concerns with the presbytery’s moderator Patrick Kimathi. The service kicked off at noon with the youthful congregants promising a repeat of today’s events, if nothing is done to kick out the elders who have been perceived to be behind the plot to kick out the reverend.
