Residents of Athiriver in Machakos County, are appealing to the security agencies to tame rampant Cyber-crime and Cyber-bullying by taking action against those found culpable of the offense. According to the locals, character assassination on the internet mostly targeting women has been on the rise, adding that the negative publicity online not only affects the targeted individual's character but also their family members through bullying and discrimination. They also want the Cyber-crime safety regulations revised to address grey areas that make the burden of proof of malicious intentions difficult
