Lakini katika miezi ya hivi karibuni , Gachagua amezungumza kuhusu kutengwa, huku kukiwa na taarifa zilizoenea kwenye vyombo vya habari kuwa ametofautiana na Ruto wakati miungano ya kisiasa ikibadilika. Kindiki, mshirika wa karibu wa Ruto, ameshikilia wadhifa wa wizara ya mambo ya ndani katika kipindi chote cha miaka miwili ya Ruto kama rais. Hapo awali aliwahi kuwa seneta wa Kaunti ya Tharaka Nithi na alikuwa mgombeaji mkuu kuwa mgombea mwenza wa Ruto wakati wa uchaguzi wa 2022.
