62-year-old woman dies, many rendered homeless by floods

One person has died with scores of others rendered homeless following flash floods that were reported across Kirinyaga, Kisumu and Garisaa counties. The body of a 62-year-old woman who was swept by the raging waters on Monday night was retrieved from River Thiba, where she fell while attempting to cross the flooded river. This comes even as victims of flooding called on the government to put in place long-term mitigation measures to avert the losses occasioned by perennial flooding.
