Kenya began her campaign at the inaugural Africa School Games that is being staged in Algeria on the wrong footing, with Lyes Boumaza of the host nation Algeria beating Omari Clinton of Kenya 5-1 in the Greco-Roman style competition. The team that is made up of 20 athletes will compete in six disciplines, namely athletics, boxing, wrestling, judo, cycling, and tennis. Team Kenya is represented by two participants - a male and a female- in each sport discipline. The team will be looking to build on Kenya’s reputation in sports while also gaining the much-needed experience ahead of the Africa Youth Games set for Angola later this year and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games primed for Dakar, Senegal.
