In 2005 When the the Sabaot Land Defence Force led by one Wycliffe Matwakei wreaked havoc in the Mt. Elgon region killing over 600 people and displacing thousands more, the Kenya Army was called in to assist the security forces that were being overwhelmed by the militia. Army commander LT. General Augustino Njoroge was called in to fortify the region. Later on during Kenya’s post election violence in 2007/2008 General Njoroge would lead the army to secure the country that was slowly sinking into anarchy. General Njoroge graces this week’s edition of MILITARY TALES.
