For years, thousands of youth in Baringo county have lived in the shadows , invisible to systems that require a national identification card to access. Education, employment, healthcare and basic government services.
In a county defined by vast distances, rugged terrain and scarcity of services, the simple act of acquiring an id card became a luxury as many could not access it, costing them dreams, dignity and a future.
But today, hope is being rekindled.
The government, through the department of immigration and citizen services, has rolled out a ten-day mobile registration exercise dubbed Usajili Mashinani, taking services directly to the people and opening a new chapter for the youth of Baringo
