Cryptocurrency trading company, Binance has partnered with Digital Drivers and Deliveries Association of Kenya, NTSA, among other stakeholders, to launch a double-header campaign on road safety and enlightening masses on opportunities in crypto assets and safe trading. Binance provided the riders with helmets and reflector jackets and encouraged them to use them all the time, in addition to practising road-safe behaviour. The President of Digital Drivers and Deliveries Association of Kenya, Calvince Okumu, called the initiative a ‘timely intervention’, noting that helmets are a proven method of preventing serious injuries and fatalities. On this part, Binance Africa Regional Lead Saruni Maina said that: “Boda bodas come in handy when you are in a rush, but there is high risks involved." He added that, "in the same way people use boda bodas they should not shy away from trading in cryptos but should adopt safe trading practices, use approved platforms and observe online security guidelines. " Binance is the world leading crypto trading platform with over 300 million users. NTSA statistics indicate that 72% of road accidents involve a boda boda or a pedestrian. The statistics are even grimmer with regard to men as 9 in 10 road fatalities involving boda boda are men.
