Mombasa's county government has confirmed an outbreak of the chikungunya virus across all six sub-counties. Dozens of cases have been reported with health officials saying the virus is spread by a mosquito known as Aedes Aegypti, which has resurfaced amid ongoing rains that have created widespread breeding grounds. This follows complaints by at least 15 residents of the Bamburi Mwisho area who reported unexplained illnesses in recent days.
