Civil society organisations are urging both the national and county governments to mobilise resources and step up preparations for the forecast El Niño rains.
The organisations say the country has already been warned about the intensity of the expected rains and should act now to prevent loss of lives and destruction of property.
They are also calling for resources to be deployed to areas most at risk and for communities to receive timely information on the expected impact of the rains.
And as Brenda Wanga reports, some counties, including Baringo, are already on edge even before the heavy rains begin.
