The sugar worth 214 million shillings that was about to be released to the public has been impounded. The sugar was at a private container freight station CFS Mitchell Cotts and was allegedly imported by a person known as Rehema Badi an employee of the company under Elevon Logistics Limited situated along links road in Nyali. Documents seized by KPA and KRA indicate that the 46 containers of contaminated sugar were imported late last year. The insurer of the shipper compensated the importer and the said sugar was to be destroyed upon the ship docking at the port of Mombasa.
