Cornea transplant in the country

    Posthumous tissue donation is not a common practice in Kenya. At the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital eye clinic in Uasin Gishu, 300 patients are waiting in line to undergo a cornea transplant. Despite this overwhelming need and demand, only few who can afford to import cornea tissue from the usa, may have a chance to see it again. Dr James Bett, a cornea specialist at MTRH says the time is nigh for Kenyans to have a conversation on post-humous tissue donation.
