Peace-building actors from Isiolo, Garissa, and Mandera Counties are calling on their respective County Governments to step in and bridge the funding gap created by the withdrawal of the USAID.
Speaking in Isiolo after a two-day intercounty exchange forum, the stakeholders drawn from government and community-based organisations emphasised the need for continued investment in countering challenges such as human trafficking, radicalisation, and violent extremism. Isiolo Interfaith Network Chairperson Sheikh Ahmed Set urged both national and county governments to prioritise peace initiatives, stressing that security and the fight against social ills require collective responsibility from all Kenyans.
