Dongo Kundu SEZ construction 16% complete

The construction of the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone in Mombasa is currently 16 percent complete. Transport Principal Secretary Mohamed Daghar says the 74.51-billion-shilling project has already attracted more than 95 investors, with four firms having set up operations on site as construction work continues. According to the government, the Special Economic Zone will be supported by an integrated transport network, including road, rail, air and maritime transport. The Kenya Ports Authority, tasked with developing seven berths to serve the industrial and logistics hub, says construction of the first berth is already underway and is expected to be completed by December 2028. KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto says Dongo Kundu is being positioned as a regional logistics hub, with the infrastructure expected to support future industrial development, boost trade and give Kenya a competitive edge in the region and across the continent. The facility will also enable companies to undertake value addition locally before exporting their products to international markets.
