The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has opposed attempts to withdraw sodomy and abduction charges facing four Mombasa County government employees.
Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Robert Mbogo, the Prosecutors further described the withdrawal attempt as a “hidden conspiracy,” warning that allowing it would undermine the seriousness of human-rights violations involved. Defence lawyer Jerald Magolo, representing the accused county employees, urged the court to consider Bruce’s wishes, arguing that the Constitution permits a complainant to withdraw a case. Magistrate Mbogo directed that a ruling on the withdrawal application be delivered next month, even as investigators continue consolidating evidence against the four county officials.
